Richard A. (Rick) Moore, 54, of Belgrade, passed away peacefully at home on December 18, 2025 following a courageous battle with cancer. He brought life, love, generosity, and an unmatched sense of humor with him everywhere he went. Rick was an amazing husband, devoted father, loving son, competitive brother, fun-loving uncle, loyal friend, and so much more to so many. He will be dearly missed, always remembered, and forever loved.
Rick was born in Augusta, Maine, to Robert and Victoria Moore on February 7, 1971. He spent much of his life in Augusta growing up in a loving home with his parents, his brother, Rob, and sister, Sabrina, building many lasting friendships along the way. He attended Cony High School before choosing to earn his GED ahead of his classmates so he could enter the workforce. Rick went on to build a successful career in the automotive industry, where he worked for over 30 years. His hard-working nature and natural gift for connecting with people helped him excel, ultimately becoming the top regional sales representative for LKQ Corporation. Later in life, Rick found his true calling when he joined the Maine CDC’s Public Health Emergency Preparedness & Response team, where he took great pride in helping others during their most challenging times.
Rick married Leslie, the love of his life, in September 2007, and moved to Belgrade in 2008. They spent over 18 years of marriage together, sharing their lives and families, raising their children, Robbie, 27, and Hailey, 24. Rick was a dedicated dad, never missing a game, school event, or teachable moment. Nothing brough him greater joy than watching his kids grow into the kind and capable adults they are today.
Rick had a lifelong passion for sports, whether he was watching his favorite teams play or was out on the field himself. A faithful fan of the Boston Red Sox and Dallas Cowboys, his loyalty never wavered. Rick was a talented athlete himself, excelling in baseball, basketball, football, golf, and softball, going on to win three state softball championships as an adult. Music was another passion of Rick’s, which led to his genuine enjoyment of karaoke. It wasn’t truly a party in his eyes until a song was being played, and someone had a microphone in their hand. A day on the lake, kayaking and fishing, or simply relaxing at home were other ways Rick loved to spend his time. Rick is survived by his wife, Leslie; his children, Robbie and Hailey Moore; parents, Robert and Victoria Moore and in-laws, David and Teresa Boyle; brothers, Robert Moore II and his partner, Dana Swanson and Mark McCollett and his wife, Sharon; sister, Sabrina and her husband, Warren Coffin; nieces, Samantha Markham and Kia Pelletier; nephews, Kaleb Moore and Ryan Minoty; as well as many very special aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Rick was preceded in death by his nephew, Robert (RJ) Moore III.
A Celebration of Life will be held in June with details and notification to come. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Angel Flight New England (www.angelflightne.org) or to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (www.dana-farber.org).
