Anne Bradford Gautier Obituary

Anne Bradford Gautier, 84, of Waterville, Maine passed away from complications with congestive heart failure at home surrounded by her family on October 26, 2025.

Anne was the daughter of Catharine Bird Runkle Withington and Maurice Richard Crowell.  She was born in Boston, Massachusetts on June 21, 1941, (the Summer Solstice – the longest day of the year).  Anne grew up in Mountainside, New Jersey. She attended the Mountainside schools and in addition, she attended West Nottingham Academy in Colora, Maryland and Cascadilla School in Ithaca, New York, graduating in 1960.

Anne married James Jenkins on October 12, 1963, in Springfield, New Jersey. They had two children, Dana Bradford Jenkins and Andrew Thompsen Jenkins.  Anne and Jim divorced in September 1974.  Anne married Neil Thomas Gautier on July 23, 1976, in Vermont while on vacation. They had one child, Adam Mitchell Gautier.

Anne lived her life to the beat of a different drum.  She was part flower child, part gypsy, and part Hippie.  She never made long term decisions, instead she lived her life “flying by the seat of her pants”.  One of her favorite sayings was “Jump...and the net will appear”.  In her later years she loved to paint, travel, tend to her plants and enjoyed the Opera’s that aired on public radio. She loved Freddie Mercury of Queen, John Denver and Pavarotti.  She watched “Dirty Dancing” any time it was on.  She loved the music from the “King and I” and went to see the musical in New York (alone) for the last performance with Yul Brenner. Her favorite place on earth was the family camp, Little Gotts Island.  She would sit out on the porch reading, watching the ocean, the wildlife and enjoying quiet peaceful moments.

Anne worked in doctor’s offices for most of her working career as an Office Manager.  She always said her children were her greatest accomplishments.

Anne is survived by her brother, Geoffrey Withington of Waterville, Maine.  Her daughter, Dana Jenkins of Waterville, Maine.  Her son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Tammy Jenkins of South Sioux City, Nebraska and her son, Adam Gautier of Waterville, Maine. A niece and great nephew, several cousins and family friends. Anne is preceded in death by her husband Neil (August 1990), her mother Catharine (February 1994), and her father Maurice (USS Vincennes 1942).

A Memorial Service is planned for June 20, 2026, At the Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury, Massachusetts.  Memories and condolences may be shared on her tribute.
