Jeannette Louise Feltis, 83, of Somerville Maine passed away on October 23, 2025
peacefully from a long illness at her home surrounded by her family. Born August 22, 1942 the
loving daughter of Herbert W. Tarr and Marion B. (Ryea) Tarr. Lousie lived a long hard life, she
had eight children whom she loved deeply; Janet Woodcock, Jo-Ann (Gary) Choate, Debra
Bryant, Charles “Bert” (Josie) Haskell, Georgia Arey, Galen (Tricia) Hisler, Martin (Michelle)
Hisler, and Freda (Ralph) Turner. In the year of 1989 she married her late husband Lee Feltis,
they spent many years together till his passing in 2003.
Lousie is predeceased by her parents, her husband, her sister Ellen Tarr Roy, her
Grandson Galen Hisler Jr, and three son in-laws; Karl Woodcock, Kevin Bryant and Lee Arey.
Lousie held many jobs throughout her lifetime; she worked for Harold Brann, Elden
Bartlet, Lipmens, Statler, Seven Tree Manor, National Sea, Crowe Rope, but mostly Louise
loved being a mom, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. She loved her family, loved being
needed, caring for not only her children and grandchildren but the neighborhood children, who
also called her Mom or Grammie. Louise loved to dance to country music, and oftentimes you
would find her at home keeping herself busy with her love of gardening, baking/cooking,
crafting, doing puzzles, feeding the birds, babysitting, and putting on family gatherings. Her
favorite holiday was Christmas, with decorations everywhere. Louise was always cleaning and
would always say “cleanliness is next to godliness.” Anyone who got the pleasure of meeting
Louise was very lucky, she will be missed by all who knew her, be it from the love she gave to
others, her quick wit or the making of faces that could make you straighten up or laugh. You
could hear her exclaiming “holy o’ mackerel” or “I know nothing” with a sly smile and a twinkle
in her eyes.
Lousie is survived by her sisters Betty Goffin, Lorraine Durgin, Patricia Weston, and
brother Timothy Tarr, her 8 children, 26 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren with more
expected to be born in the near future.
The family would like to send a special thanks to Alice Crouse, for her friendship and
weekly visits. A special thank you to a close family friend Julie, for all the help and being so
kind to our Mother. To her doctor Carlon Smith for coming to her home and taking such great
care of our mother. Beacon hospice for keeping our Mom in comfort during her final stages of
life here on Earth, especially her Nurse Sara. The smile that Sara’s presence would give our
Mother was a comfort to all of us who witnessed it.
Graveside services to be held at Somerville Sand Hill Cemetery May 09, 2026 at 1:00pm
with a gathering to follow. Memories and condolences may be shared on her tribute wall.
