James Ira Allen Jr. Obituary

James Allen, 82, of Harrison ME passed peacefully Friday, October 24th 2025, at Bridgton Hospital. He was born August 25, 1943 in Bridgton to James and Phyllis (Bryant) Allen Sr. He graduated Bridgton High School in 1962. He entered the Army in 1964 and served in active duty and reserves until 1975. He married Linda Conant and they had three children together. He and Paula (Hodgdon) later married in 1981 and enjoyed 44 years of marriage together. He worked for Sebago Shoes for 37 years. After they closed in 2003, he worked for R.W. Merrill Electrical Contractors before working for Camp Newfound/Owatona for 17 years before retiring in 2023. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer enjoying many outdoor activities, especially with his family. He was an active member of the Harrison American Legion Post 139, Maine Obsolete Automobile League (MOAL),  member of Maine’s “The One That Didn’t Get Away Club” for two record fish, and “The Biggest Bucks In Maine Club” also. He had served on the North Bridgton Fire Department. Many hours were spent at the kitchen table playing cribbage with family and friends. 


He is survived by wife Paula of Harrison, sons Chris (Karen) Allen of Bath ME and Adam Allen of Harrison, daughter Beth Allen of Bridgton, stepdaughter Bobbie Reimer (David) of Elkader IA; Grandchildren Katherine Allen, Lauren Allen, Addie Allen, Caitlin (Jeff) Johnson, Charles Reimer, Josh (Courtney) Truman;  great grandchildren Emery and Barron Johnson. Siblings Larry and Garry (Gloria) of Bridgton, Carlene of Poland, Reginald (Carmen) of Harrison, Glenn (Cathy) of Otisfield, and Debbie of Standish, brother-in-law Brian of So. Paris and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers, a sister, a brother-in-law and stepson Michael Truman.


A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday November 9th, 1 - 3:30 pm, at the Ronald St. John Community Center, 176 Waterford Road in Harrison (former VFW Hall). In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial/donations to the Harrison American Legion, American Kidney Association or Harrison Food Bank.
