SIDNEY - George A. Savage, 87, of Sidney, Maine, passed away on October 4, 2025, at home with his family by his side.

He was born in Waterville, Maine on October 15, 1937, to George Savage and Lillian Kallock. He attended schools in Sidney and Augusta graduating from Cony High School in 1955.

After graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. In December of 1973, he married Theresa Betit, and they settled in Sidney where he dedicated years of service to his community as the Assistant Fire Chief of Sidney and a member of the Town of Sidney Planning Board. He also belonged to the Sidney Masons and was a life member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks lodge #964 Augusta.

George was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, ice fishing and just simply being outside. He enjoyed traveling to other states and to Canada to pursue his passion, but hunting and fishing in Maine was his favorite pastime.

He was predeceased by his parents; daughter, Georgia Gunning, son, Jeremy Savage, and granddaughter, Tamara Towle Vasile, and brother Eugene Dube.

Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Theresa and children Brenda Mitchell (Paul), George “Buddy” Savage (Robin), Debra Lucas (Steve), Pamela Tondreau (Reggie), Angela Stanford (Rick), Donna Harris, Jennifer Brunelle (Shawn), Ned Savage (Trish). He is also survived by sisters Shirley Kinney, Marjorie Rosenbecker, Marilee Harlan (Harry), and brother Peter Dube (Diane), 29 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 18 at 10am at the Sidney Second Baptist Church, 3022 West River Road in Sidney. Interment will take place at the Maine Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

George leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and family that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
