Jacques G. Deschaine, a beloved father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully after an accident at the age of 74 on August 25, 2025, in Fort Kent, Maine with his son and daughter-in-law by his side. Born on March 21, 1951, in Grand Isle, Maine, to Alyre and Rose May Deschaine, Jacques was a symbol of kindness and generosity, cherished by all who knew him.
Jacques attended Madawaska High School prior to enlisting as a member of the United States Air Force where he served in Vietnam. After his military service, he embarked on a career at Fraser Papers, where he dedicated 30 years before retiring in 2008. Jacques had a passion for motorcycling, cycling, walking around the neighborhood, shining up his toys, and enjoying his morning coffee with his local friends.
Above all, Jacques's proudest accomplishments were being a father and a grandfather. His family was his world, and he made every effort to ensure their happiness and wellbeing. He found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, like witnessing his grandsons, Kaleb and Alex, grow and flourish.
His dedication to his family was unmatched, a testament to the man he was. Jacques is preceded in death by his father, Alyre Deschaine; mother, Rose May Deschaine; brother, Roger Deschaine; and sister, Pauline Deschaine. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, survived by his son, Kevin J. Deschaine; daughter-in-law, Raven Deschaine; grandsons, Kaleb and Alex Deschaine; and six siblings. Three sisters, Bernice LaPierre of Sebastian, Florida and her husband Daniel; Verna Lowell of New Gloucester, Maine and her husband Craig; Diane Bourbonnais of Kinistino, Saskatchewan and her husband Mario. Three brothers, Gerard Deschaine of Bangor, Maine and his wife Benita; Gilbert Deschaine of Madawaska, Maine and his wife Paula; John Deschaine of Richmond, Maine and his wife Monique, and many nieces and nephews.
Jacques was known for his generous spirit and kind heart. He had the ability to light up any room with his warm smile and infectious laughter. His family and friends will miss his unwavering support and love, but will continue to carry his memory in their hearts.
A memorial service for family and friends will take place at the Christian Life Fellowship Church, located at 641 Main Street in Madawaska, Maine at 9:30 a.m. on Monday September 15, 2025. In the meantime, the family requests that you remember Jacques for the loving, kind, and generous man he was. They are grateful for the outpouring of love and support they've received during this difficult time.
