Bernadette Marie Dickinson

1970 – 2025

Bernadette Marie Dickinson, a cherished mother, community advocate, and lover of nature, passed away on August 15, 2025, in Auburn, Maine. She was born on April 16, 1970, in Manchester, Connecticut, and spent her life leaving a lasting impact on those around her.



Bernadette’s journey began in Manchester, Connecticut, where she grew up before embarking on a brief but meaningful stint in the U.S. Navy (1988–1990). She later graduated from Manchester Community College with an Associate’s Degree in May 2000 and continued her education at the Criminal Justice Academy in Maine, where she became a police officer in Mexico, Maine. Her dedication to service shone through her work, and she remained deeply connected to her community throughout her life.



A loving mother to Rashida Firey (spouse Shaun Firey) and Emmalee Grimm (spouse Matthew Grimm), Bernadette was known for her kind-hearted nature, protective spirit, and quiet strength. She was fond of birds and cherished the ocean finding peace in nature’s beauty. Her personality was a blend of caring, independence, and warmth, often described as a “lone wolf” who loved to support others from the heart.


Beyond her professional and familial roles, Bernadette gave generously to her neighborhood, embodying the belief that “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Her favorite quote, shared by many who knew her, reflected her enduring legacy.


A Celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion in Farmington, Maine (158 High Street) on August 30, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Donations and flowers are welcome in her honor. Bernadette’s memory lives on through the lives she touched, the communities she served, and the quiet, enduring love she gave.
