Maureen L. Richardson Obituary

Mom took her last breath at 11:24 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6th, at home in Tania's arms with her son, Micheal, and youngest daughter,Becky, close by. Tania was hugging her, trying to get her comfortable, when she smiled… and let go.

She had been at home in hospice care since August 2nd after months of struggling to swallow, speak, and move. True to form, she went out on her own terms—refusing a feeding tube or fluids. We are deeply grateful she is finally free, and equally heartbroken to lose such a beautiful soul who touched countless lives with love and understanding in their darkest times.

Maureen celebrated every victory of her loved ones as if it were the Nobel Peace Prize. She survived a difficult life, and in her trademark tenacity, muscled her way through every hardship to show up for those in need. She turned her own fear and pain into a superpower—ferocious love and unshakable advocacy for the underdog. She did this through her work and in her daily life.

Her kindness new no bounds and she lived every day as if compassion was her purpose.

We will be having a Celebration of Life Sunday September 7th 1pm-4pm. All are welcome. Some food and some of mom’s favorite music is what she asked for. Bring your funny stories and memories as we celebrate Maureen. The location will be at her house, 15 Deer Hill Ave Standish Me.
