It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dennis W. Baker also known as “Baka”, who left this life peacefully on July 30, 2025, at the age of 65, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Meriden, Connecticut, Baker was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He was known for his hard working spirit, his artistic soul, and the love he poured into everything he did – from the homes he built to the lives he touched.
Baker is survived by his loving mother, Elsie Higginbotham of Texas. He was predeceased by his stepfather from whom he was raised, Paul Rodney Higginbotham, by his father, Ernest Baker Jr. and his sister, Terri Tuliper.
A graduate of Sacopee Valley High School, Class of 1978, Baker was an athlete, excelling in football and baseball.
He was also a drummer, playing in a band called Flux, showcasing his love of music.
He became a master of his trades, owning and operating Baker & Son as a concrete mason. He was also a talented carpenter and built the very home he lived in – a testament to his skill and dedication.
On July 1, 1989, he married the love of his life, and soulmate Corine (Wormwood) Baker. Together they built a life full of love, laughter, and family. He found great joy in traveling – particularly enjoying cruises and trips to Key West. He also had a deep appreciation for art and antiques, loved to play golf, write poetry, enjoyed gardening, and was a passionate clock repairman. Many fond memories were shared around the cribbage board and playing sequence and the train game with family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Corine (Wormwood) Baker, his daughter, Shannue (Baker) Edmond and her husband, Auguste Edmond of Maine, son Jesse Baker and his fiancé, Tonyia Kawanski of Maine.
He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren; Aushe Edmond and his wife Noelle, Ashton Edmond and Maachiah Edmond, Ryleigh Baker, Madison Baker, and Abbiella Baker, all of Maine.
In addition, he is survived by his loving sisters; Linda McPherson of Maine; Cheryl Sharpless of Kentucky; Jeanne Seeman and her husband Eric of Texas; and Javalie Higginbotham of Louisiana.
Baker will be remembered for his humor, unwavering work ethic, and the love he had for his family. His legacy lives on through the lives he helped build and the memories that will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him.
Honoring Baker's wishes, no services will be held. The family appreciates your love and support during this time.
