AUGUSTA – Lee Lucien Berube, 59, of Augusta, Maine passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 31, 2025, with his loving family by his side.
Lee was born in Augusta, Maine on February 16, 1966, the son of Gerard and Simone (Lemieux) Berube. He attended Cony and Maranacook High Schools and started working at a young age as a mechanic and doing odd jobs. Prior to his disability, he worked as a mechanic at Waterman’s Farm Machinery in Sabattus, Maine.
Lee was known as a quiet, very hard-working man that would do anything for his wife Debbie, his children and his brother Ray. Family was everything to him and he did whatever it took to give his family the best life that he could and to always show each of them just how much they meant to him. He took great pride in spending time with his wife and children as they grew up, he enjoyed attending all of his children’s school activities and sports, rarely ever missing an event. He especially looked forward to summertime because he loved having his family BBQs. Lee, also known as “Gumpa”, was so proud of his little granddaughter Cassie who just turned a year old, and he was equally proud and excited as he looked forward to his second granddaughter in July.
Lee is survived by his wife of 40 years, Debbie Berube and his 4 children, Tyler Berube (Leah) of Whitefield, Lisa Marie (Berube) Tibbetts (Eric Tibbetts) of Augusta, Kira Berube (partner Houston Ashby) of Augusta, Dakota Berube of Augusta, and granddaughter Cassie Berube. He is also survived by his father, Gerard Berube of Belgrade, Maine and brother Ray (Jeanne) Berube of New Sharon, Maine, 2 nephews, 1 niece, a great niece and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Lee was predeceased by his mother Simone L. Berube, his paternal grandparents Henry and Yvonne Berube and his maternal grandparents Ovila and Madora Lemieux.
The family wishes to thank Maine General Hospice for taking care of Lee over the past few weeks. Your care and support allowed him to stay at home until the end as he wanted so we are all very grateful.
Arrangements are under the direction of Direct Cremation of Maine, Belfast, Maine. According to Lee’s wishes, there will be no public visiting hours.
