Nicole Lynn Leighton Obituary

Nicole “Nikki” Lynn (Geel) Leighton passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. Nicole was born in Ellsworth Maine on November 6, 1972, the daughter of Kerry and Valorie (Parritt) Geel.

When Nikki was born, she was the brightest light in all our lives. She was a child with a huge heart full of life and curiosity which stayed with her as she grew into a beautiful woman. Nikki had many different jobs in her life from waitressing to administrative work of every kind, lobster fishing, and so much more. She loved life and all her family and friends with a fierceness and passion. She was always there to comfort and give all she had to those in need. Her passion was to travel and do all she could to check things off her bucket list, some of which were seeing the Grand Canyon, skydiving, and riding her motorcycle through the Tail of the Dragon in the Great Smokey Mountains. The greatest adventure she was able to do was to see Alaska with her close friends Zandra, Tim, and Aedan. In Nikki’s short life she met so many amazing people, whom she loved with all her heart. Nikki’s position as “Auntie” was the most important role in her life, her desire to see them succeed and become adults was her main goal.

Nicole is survived by her parents Kerry and Valorie, her nephews Dylan and Jacob Nyberg, her niece Molly Geel, and her loyal and faithful companion, Milo. She also had many very special aunts, uncles, and cousins whom she cherished very much.

She was predeceased by her sister Jaime in September 2021, her grandparents Leslie ParrittJr., Lottie and Royce Geel, Ann and Buzz Norton.

A heartfelt thank you to her devoted care giver, Zandra during the final stages of her journey and to Lauren at CHCS Hospice. Also, a sincere thank you to Aunt Deb, Aunt Lisa, Karmen, Nadine, Kim, Mike, Tara and Mark for all their love and support. Her radiant smile will forever leave a huge hole in our hearts.

A celebration of life will be held at Columbia Town Hall 106 Epping Road Columbia, Maine on Sunday June 1, 2025 at 1:00. In honor of Nicole’s memory, her wishes were for any donations be made in her honor to the Messenger Animal Rescue PO BOX 223 Harrington Maine 04643.
