Norman “Norm” E. Weymouth, 91, of West Gardiner, died Sunday, April 20, 2025.

Norm was born in Readfield, Maine on August 16, 1933, the son of Chester and Violet (Piper) Weymouth. He graduated from Cony High school. He went on to receive a bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut and later a master’s degree from the University of Maine.

On July 4, 1959, Norm married Adelaide Miller and together they raised two children, residing in Manchester prior to settling in West Gardiner in 1976.

He taught civics at Gardiner Area High school for 25 years. He served on the select board of Manchester for over a decade. Norm was especially proud to have been elected by his neighbors to serve in the 110th, 111th, 112th, 113th, and 114th legislatures.

Norm considered it his calling to maintain the beautiful stone walls that embraced his West Gardiner home. He would spend hours raking and mowing with his Golden Retriever by his side. He would explain the history of the walls to anyone who asked. His hope was that the walls and the land remain intact for years to come.

During his retirement Norm and his wife traveled. Their travels culminated in an excursion to Australia and New Zealand. Norm loved hunting and fishing with his family. He loved the annual cat and mouse game of trying to keep the deer out of his garden. In the warm months he loved his camps, in the winter he loved his wood stoves.

He was predeceased by his son Edward; bothers Chester, Jr. and Richard Sr. and sisters Edith Knowlton, Mary White and Betty Beckim.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years Adelaide Weymouth of West Gardiner; his son Andrew Weymouth of West Gardiner; two grandchildren Aiden Weymouth of Scarborough and Edward Weymouth of Middleton, NH; and one great granddaughter Mackenzie Hope Weymouth of Middleton, NH.
