In Memory of
Lorraine Edgar Kammer
1924-2025
Lorraine was born on June 13, 1924 in Boston, MA to Clayton and Marion Edgar of Brookline, MA. In 1944 Lorraine married Robert A Kammer of Scranton, PA. They were happily married for 53 years until Bob’s death in 1997. During those years they resided in Hartford, CT, Dedham and Westwood, MA, Alton,
NH. For the last 11 years Lorraine lived on Bailey Island, ME with her son, Bruce Kammer.
Her years in MA were spent volunteering for the Children’s Museum in Boston, the MSPCC and WGBH-TV. Lorraine also enjoyed being a Cub Scout den mother and Campfire Girls leader. She loved long walks, reading, skiing, travels here and abroad and caring for the family dogs.
Her greatest joy was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Lorraine is survived by her son Bruce Kammer of Bailey Island ME and daughter Joan (and husband Harry) Flechtner of Bailey Island, ME, and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Kammer of Plover, WI; grandchildren Scott (and wife Julie) Kammer of Centerville MI, Emily Wachelka of Munich, Germany, and Andrew Flechtner (and wife Jenny Lockerby) of Chicago, IL ; great grandchildren, Nicole, Charlie, Luke, Owen and Alice, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kammer (d.1997), son, Robert Jr (d.2011), granddaughter Betsy Kammer (d.2001), and great grandson Michael Kammer (d.2003).
A celebration of life is being planned by the family and will be held at a later date.
