Obituary of Suzelle Guimond
Our sweet and beloved Suzelle Mary Anne Guimond died peacefully on March 4, 2025, at the age of 70, in Waterville, Maine. She was born in Frenchville, Maine to Albert and Anysie Daigle Guimond, the youngest of 10 children. She was a graduate of Wisdom High School in St. Agatha and lived most of her life in “the Valley”.
Suzelle loved nothing more than her children, extensive family, and her “life on the farm” where she grew up. She wrote a touching and funny memoir of that time, giving tribute to her parents and nine siblings. In it she shared cherished memories of each family member, filled with events so funny and vivid. She included the animals and seasonal activities of potato and berry picking. She discloses all her family secrets that only the family can appreciate and laugh about. It truly is the best gift she could have left us, her beloved family.
She was just the sweetest, most gentle soul with the best laugh and smile. She loved to tease and joke, played a mean game of Charlemagne, enjoyed her long walks around town, and everyone was her friend! She was devoted to her Church family in Fort Kent for many years. They provided her with friendship, love and guidance when she lived by herself in the Valley. She was also blessed to have her good friend, Janice Bernier, to love, care for, and support her for those years following her diagnosis of dementia.
She is survived by her two children, son Scott Roy, of Frenchville, Maine and his wife Sue, daughter Allison Roy Moen of Oakland, Maine and her husband Doug Moen, four grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her four siblings: Claire Guimond Dobert of Chapel Hill, NC, Michelle Guimond Wolff and husband Miles Wolff, Chapel Hill, NC, Maurice Guimond and wife Betsy Hippensteel, Barrington, NH, and Patrice Guimond and wife Mildred Guimond, Verona Island, ME. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Anysie Guimond, five brothers: Leon, Kenneth, Raymond, Phillip and Robert, and her ex-husband and father of her beloved children, Wilfred Angelo Roy.
The family would like to thank the caring and loving staff at St. Joseph Memory Care in Frenchville, Maine, and Northern Light Continuing Care Lakewood in Waterville, Maine, where Suzelle resided for the last ten years. We also appreciate the Northern Light Hospice team who supported Suzelle during her final months. With her smile and sweet disposition, she quickly made her way into the hearts of all the staff who cared for her, and they share in our loss.
A private celebration of life will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Northern Light Hospice at PO Box 931 Bangor, ME 04402 or online at northernlighthealth.org/give/giveHCH Kennebec County Greatest Need.
