Obituary of Lorette C. Cain
Lorette Marie (Campeau) Cain, 84, of Vassalboro, Maine, passed in her home on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, with family by her side. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. She adored her husband of over 63 years, Silas “Bill” Cain.
Lorette is predeceased by her parents, Romeo and Elizabeth (Gilbert) Campeau of Winslow, Maine, her sister, Cecile Callahan, of Manchester, Maine, brother-in-law Richard “Dick” Cain Sr. and his wife Margaret “Peggy” Cain, both of Vassalboro, Maine, and nephews Scott Jolicoeur, Alan Jolicoeur, and Mark Cain.
She attended school at Mount Merici Academy in Waterville, Maine, and went on to study laboratory technology from St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston, Maine. Lorette worked as a lab technician in a blood bank and was also employed by several local optical labs and eye doctors over the years.
Lorette loved to grow beautiful flowers and decorate her home with antiques. She loved collecting Native American jewelry on trips out west and going out to eat or playing cards with family and friends. She loved camping and traveling with Bill, once spending a month on the back of his Honda Goldwing motorcycle as they toured the western US and part of Canada. After retiring, she and Bill spent a few winters down south and out west, traveling with a camper, then a motor home.
Lorette is survived by her husband Bill, of Vassalboro, Maine, her daughter, Lisa Munster and her husband Joseph Munster II of Vassalboro, her son, Douglas Cain, and his wife Yamica of Rochester, New Hampshire, grandsons Joseph Munster III and Nathaniel Munster, both of Vassalboro, granddaughter Sharon Tidwell, of Prattville, Alabama, Aiyana Cain, of Vassalboro, Gawain Cain, of Cape Cod, MA., Amy Cain of Ogilvie, MN, great grandchildren Aiden Wellman, Sage Munster, Eliana Tidwell, step grandchildren Sierra Peterson, Sophie Peterson Matos, Devin Peterson Matos, James Peterson Matos, and Deborah Peterson Matos, and many nieces and nephews.
A Catholic funeral mass will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church, 26 Monument Street, Winslow, Maine at 11:00 am on April 26th, 2025. A celebration of Lorette’s life will follow at the Winslow VFW, 175 Veteran Drive, Winslow, Maine.
