Obituary of Leslie A. Steeves

Obituary of Leslie Steeves April 7th, 1945 – December 28th, 2020 On December 28th, 2020, Leslie Allen Steeves “Porker” passed away peacefully and comfortably at his residence, Bella Point Camden. Born in Rockland, Maine on April 7th, 1945. Leslie “Porker” was the son of Charles Steeves and Edna R. Lathrop – Steeves. From a young age Porker learned that hard work created success, after working for Rockland Ford as a mechanic for over 30 years! Leslie also known as “Porker” worked out of a long-term friend’s garage also helping work on his dump trucks, Raymond Robinsons. In 1984 Leslie was set up on a blind date where he met Elaine Edith Gamage, soon after their first encounter they would find each other sitting on Porkers dirty work bench in his garage, making sure he always wiped her seat off before she sat down. Four years later in 1988 Leslie Steeves and Elaine Gamage became husband and wife. After buying property Leslie and Elaine’s “American Dream” happened! They finally where able to open their own business, A garage for Leslie with the name that rightfully suited him: “Porker’s Garage” and a hair salon for Elaine that was named “Hair Dynamics” that she successfully ran. Leslie was known to be seen in his red truck with the signature pig on the side which usually resulted in one of his “mechanic road calls” this also meant a stop to Kalers corner store to get his coffee and scratch tickets making sure to always catch up with the store crew seeing what the new gossip around town was. Leslie wouldn’t only stop at Kalers. One of Porkers favorite spots was meeting the guys as McDonalds sharing the gossip and cracking jokes over coffee. Leslie supplied the world with his sense of humor even when he had to face life changing events like most recently this past year when he moved into Bella Point Camden. Leslie was a man of the Lord and would always praise “the good man above” stating how much he has done for him. On December 21st Leslies health took a turn for the worst from what he thought was the unimaginable to the now reality he had to face. Though Leslies health declined quickly he was still the funny spirited “porker” we all grew to love! Porker will be missed by so many from family to caregivers and others who knew Mr. Steeves from the community. Leslie Allen Steeves was pre-deceased by his parents along with seventeen out of twenty-three siblings, his wife, Elaine Gamage Steeves who passed in 2005 and two grandchildren, Derek and Nicole.
